Jim seems to be doing very well. Today he had chicken gravy and mashed potatoes. The speech therapist said that on Wednesday they would begin a three meal a day program for him (small amounts and soft). In physical therapy he walked down ramps and up stairs. He may be moving as soon as June 1st to Oregon Rehab. All great things! Speech seems to be the slowest and most frustrating thing for Jim (maybe the family too) to show signs of coming back/improving. He is trying to talk a lot but very mumbled and then he just gives up. For those of us that know Jim, he loves to talk. He was coughing and rubbing his eyes a bit today but probably his allergies that are bugging him. For those of you familiar with Eugene and allergies you will agree.
Jim had a good time yesterday at his birthday party. He opened a dozen or so cards, a few presents and gave several hugs to his kids and grand kids.
We are so thankful for his improvement and how hard he is working. We look forward to him going home. We will keep you posted.
